Neutron has shown interest in connecting it's internal network via a separate up-link using BGP (https://blueprints.launchpad.net/neutron/+spec/bgp-dynamic-routing).The proposal is tightly coupled with BGP and cannot be leveraged by other routing protocols.

This proposal talks about a generic framework for making neutron router/s, network/s, subnet/s and route/s reachable via any of the dynamic protocol like BGP, OSPF, ISIS, OSPFv3, EIGRP and etc.
