Purge old data to keep table size in check

Purge all the data prior to a given date. The proposed default is 30 days.
Specifying 0 days means no data will be purged.

The current implementation leaves only 30 days worth of data in the database. It is possible to specify a different period or even disable the purge.
Idea: Instead of dynamically purge the data during every run, the option should be able to be given as a 'command' so it can be invoked separately from the data gathering cutting overhead.
