Give the user an option to display the window fullscreen all the time, and display the machines hostname, IP address and other information.
This could be done in a refreshable html page displayed using WebKit.
Pro: let's the user define the layout in HTML
Con: requires webkit dependency ... or does it?

This would be similar to running conky but with the layout defined in HTML. Perhaps this should be it's own project.
