Many enterprises are deploying OpenStack into their IT environment along side other tools and need to integrate OpenStack management with their own system management tools, many of these tools are based on SNMP so a natural way to integrate notification is to add a plugin capable to send SNMP trap/notification from monasca.
This plugin is going to include a MIB (the information base shared between SNMP agent and manager) so that the SNMP management system is going to be able to interpret all fields in a proper way.
