Stop watch mode.
A "stop watch" mode that shows the user how long it took to answer a particular flashcard. The stop watch would be optional and the user would access and activate it from a menu or button. Once activated the stop watch would display the amount of time that had passed from the point the card was shown to when the "select answer" button was selected. (Note: I think it would be best to keep the stop watch time hidden until the "select answer" button is chosen") For example: I am learning Japanese Kanji, and say I feel like testing my speed, I then select the "stop watch" option to "on" then attempt to answer my scheduled card(s) in a focused manner. I will not see how long it is taking me to answer until I press the "show answer" button which will then display to me my current and passed "times" for that particular card along with the answer. From there I can rate my answer along with how long it took me to answer and how long it took me to answer in the past for that particular card. The stop watch would continue to display the time it took to answer a card for subsequent scheduled cards until the user deactivates the "stop watch mode."

We are migrating the feature requests from here to https:/
(Note that Mnemosyne already know tracks the time it took you to answer a card, but that information is kept internal).
This coulld be implemented as a plugin. I'm not to keen on having it in the core program, as that would lead to feature creep.

Is that information used for anything? Sometimes I launch Mnemosyne & just let it sit there before getting to doing anything with it, or will go get a snack or something or do some research on a topic - am I penalized for not having even looked at a question?

Don't worry, it is not affecting your scheduling.
