Add a TAP button you can click (or via a MIDI device button) to tap out the BPM of a song to override (or help?) the auto detection.

Uhh, Mixxx already has this. Map a MIDI button to [Channel#], bpm. Then, assuming the BPM detector worked correctly on the song, tapping the assigned button will set the new speed (within the confines of the current pitch slider range.)
In MIDI scripting, the "bpm" control actually sets the BPM absolutely, so you'll need to do some interpolation. See the StantonSCS3d.
