Independent Player 1 & 2 Output Channels

Registered by Michael Z Freeman

This blueprint has been superseded. See the newer blueprint "External Mixer Mode" for updated plans.

Jack Rack handles Player 1 & 2 effects rather than Mixxx. Extra Jack ports are added in order to have independent output channels so that JackRack can handle fx. Crossfader works between separate Jack channels and is mixed at final Jack DSP destination. Headphones are not shown setup in the image (see spec URL [removed due to 404 -bkgood]) but they could be sent to further Jack ports, or assigned to a local sound card (one not being used by Jack). This would allow a large number of fx for those who want them and hand off fx processing to Jack leaving Mixx to concentrate on mixxxing.

ADDENUM: I am aware that this can be achieved by using the Main out and Headphone out setup covered in the docs. However I have left this blueprint in as it may become relevant when Mixxx can implement multiple software players. There is one more channel I could use from a third software player on my multichannel (surround sound) soundcard.

Whiteboard

If I understand this correctly, this is asking to output different decks to different audio channel pairs. As such, linked to features_external_mixer. If someone with the ability to is interested (lp won't let me), a target release 1.9 is probably applicable. -- Bill Good (bkgood)
