Other major browsers, such as Chrome, Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari, etc... all have hardware acceleration, and thus render web animations smoothly.
Midori's rendering of jquery animations and css3 animations are all rather jaggy, even on rather powerful graphics cards. Hardware acceleration is essential to provide the best experience for users. This is already implemented with WebGL.
