The essence is infinite redrawing of the web view. After hiding the tabbar the issue disappears (toggle fullscreen or activate tab panel extension).
Disabling the KatzeThrobber doesn't make a difference.
Disabling notebook label resizing has literally no effect in GTK+3.
Disabling tab label ellipsizing misteriously disables resizing of tabs.
