Ability to Change Color of Features

It would be nice to implement a feature that would be able to change the color of objects so that people can do one of many things:
Change the color of their skin.
Change the color of their beard.
Hats
eyes
etc...
Perhaps some good tagging could create a nice way for use to make those color changes happen.
