Tekla App USB Switch Adapter Support for Android 3.x Tablet PCs

Registered by Peter Hamlin

Further to enquiring whether the USB switch adapter (JoyCable) at:
http://www.SmartBoxAT.com/accessories/joycable/
... can be used in conjunction with a Motorola Xoom Tablet and the Tekla App it has been discovered that the HID 'chip used in the JoyCable is an "Anycom mini joystick".

It has not been possible to confirm the actual syntax of the Windows message sent by the JoyCable as SmartBoxAT use a 3rd party control to handle it.
However, it has been confirmed that the event(s) sent by the switch 1 or switch 2 when pressed/released are <fire_button_down> and <fire_button_up>.

On the basis of the limited information above it is hoped that the Tekla App can be enhanced so that a JoyCable - and perhaps other USB switch HID adapters - can be used with Tekla on Android 3.x Tablets.

Whiteboard

I think it would be important to asses what other USB switch adapters are out there (Swifty, JoyCable, Crick, IntelliSwitch, etc) and provide support to the most standard format, some of them are seen as mouse click, other as keyboard or joystick input. And some of them are configurable.
