HID devices connected to the shield with USB

Registered by Kevin Lowe

The jump from touchscreen input to Tekla is not a natural progression and thus the user may be reluctant when faced with a new learning curve. We feel a more natural progression can be accomplished by introducing an intermediate step using USB Trackballs, Mice and Joysticks.

These devices allow the control mechanism to be separated from the viewing surface but still provide a high degree of control. In contrast, touchscreens are built into the display and cannot be moved to a comfortable position for control. Switches can be put in a comfortable position but are limited in bandwidth.
