This great mockup by chawsum shows ways we could change the default new tab. Instead of showing a users home folder, we could show a list of commonly viewed places, devices, perhaps some zeitgeist intergration.
What about common tab look/feel/behavior across eApps? Behaviour would include things like
- open new tab when double-click on empty space in tabbar
- duplicate tab when double-click on tab
- hover to preview tab
It'd be great if Marlin, Midori and tomorrow other apps (e.g. terminal) shared the same tab framework. --ttosttos

Not familiar with Spin tab. Firefox-like tabs with the actions described above would be very compelling. The mockup above is an improvement. I'd round the corners a bit. It's unclear how you propose to display unselected tabs ('Mockups" in your case?). I'd suggest incorporating these concepts in the elementary HIG
