SCHED_DEADLINE: a new deadline based real-time task scheduling policy

Registered by LPC Submitter on 2012-05-16

SCHED_DEADLINE is a new deadline based real-time task scheduling policy with bandwidth isolation (aka "resource reservation") capabilities. It supports global/clustered multiprocessor scheduling through dynamic task migrations. Basic functionalities are quite stable and have passed many review iterations. Now, as mainline integration is approaching, we are impatient to show off the capabilities of this new scheduler to all potential users and get feedback on how to ease its adoption as much as possible.

Need to be present: Peter Zijlstra, Thomas Gleixner, Steven Rostedt

Juri is a PhD student at the ReTiS Lab, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa (Italy) who's research areas are Quality of Service control for soft real-time systems and real-time scheduling for multi-processor systems. Is also the current maintainer of SCHED_DEADLINE.
