A simple audio recorder following a design layout and operational features identical to the old gtk2 gnome-sound-recorder.

I believe there should be a sound recorder application installed as stock software in the live image and default install. I really liked the gnome-sound-recorder that was available in the repos in previous releases of Ubuntu and Mint. Unfortunately the gnome-sound-recorder (part of the gnome-media package) currently in the repos is broken and the mate-sound-recorder (a fork of gnome-sound-recorder) has been removed from the mate-media package. I feel that a sound recorder should be developed as an x-app and considered a default application along side xed, xviewer, xplayer, etc.
