Artwork should support widescreen
Whether it's done through mintAssistant or automatically, the artwork should:
- Support both 4/3 and 16/9 formats.
- The right format should be chosen for the user as soon as his/her format is known.
This includes usplash (problem can be avoided by having a black background and forcing 1024x768), GDM (need two themes and select one of them), Wallpaper (need two wallpapers and select one of them).

Whiteboard
Well the themes and backgrounds are already available in both formats. What's missing here is the auto-detection part. - Clem.
emorrp1: shouldn't usplash handle this, also limited relevance given reduced dependency on usplash in Karmic
needs review due to xsplash in Karmic not usplash -- emorrp1
Rovanion: Well currently Plymouth as of Linux Mint 9 does this if the graphics driver has KMS. There is nothing further that can be done for the boot part.
