Update Only Installed Packages

Could Mint Update Manager please have an option to only update existing, installed packages, by checking the local apt database please? Current default is to treat any package updated after installation as "needed". Update Manager just tried to install Tomcat App Server to my client workstation running 17.3. Not sensible!
