Searching "Control Panel" should bring up the preferences panel

Menu => Search term "Control Panel" should bring up the Preferences panel. I know the preferences panel is not called the control panel, but it would help new users move swiftly. OSX and Windows 7/8 will bring up their respective control panels when you search for the other's name.
