Since when I installed Linux for the first time I have been researching how to modify my keyboard layout. This in 2011. I am a translator and need 4 different layouts, switching kb is absolutely out of discussion, it's just too confusing and I don't need to write the odd ü or ô to play, I need to work.
Please, don't be the average Linux fanboi bashing this idea because I say that Microsoft has this program since the times of Windows 98 and Linux is better. Try that program in virtual box, and see how such a thing should be. So far the only way to do in Linux is tampering with xkb, and compiling your own keyboard on a text file. That's so 1994.
With the Microsoft program one can download it, install it, and having the keyboard mapped in 10 split minutes, good luck doing that in Linux. I need to have characters from 4 different layouts and it's impossible to do it without a GUI program, not with my knowledge, at least. Thanks!
