Compiz grid functionality for cinnamon

Registered by Jan Sloep

I like Cinnamon, but what I realy, realy, miss very much is Compiz-Grid.

I work with three screens and from time to time with 8-12 open windows on those screens. With Compiz-Grid I can resize with <Alt><Ctrl><A number on the numeric keypad> a window to the topleft, top middle, bottom right, or whatever corner of a screen I want, so I don't have to resize each window manually

As Compiz is not supported in Cinnamon it would be great if the same functionality of Compiz-Grid would be made available for Cinnamon too.

Whiteboard

The KeyTiling extension (http://danielnoegel.de/wordpress/2011/12/10/yet-another-tiling-extension/) for the GNOME shell provides this functionality. It works in Cinnamon (only requires that "cinnamon-version": ["1.4"] is added to metadata.json). It assumes that the panel is located at the top of the screen, but that can easily be modified in extension.js.
