Close button in the panel

I'm using the mint desktop with the classic panel layout and my open applications appear in the top panel. This looks similar to the way tabs are represented in the different browsers. The most browsers have the feature to close a particular tab by a small "x". Such a feature would be nice for the applications shown in the mint panel as well.
