a more strict package installation and execution file for programs
Installing needed 3rd party applications from major corporations such as adobe flash and java runtime environment is a pain when you don't know how to install packages from the command line, can't find them in the software manager, or they don't have a Dpkg. Even so, installing packages by dragging and dropping files or using the command line gives rise to numerous errors that the new Linux user wouldn't necessarily understand. As a new user myself, i cannot find anything past my own user folder and encountered countless errors trying to put commands to install a file in my downloads folder, what in the heck is a missing Operand? I Don't Know! I would like to believe if there were a standardized installation and execution of program files, day to day life would be much easier for the Linux user. I am never spending another 8 hours of my time trying to figure out how to install files from a tarball that includes no instructions and doesn't install in any method provided by Linux Mint support and Forum pages. In short, providing a standard for which users can expect to use Linux would greatly reduce the learning curve and difficulty in switching to any Linux Distro.
