Backgrounds / desktop wallpaper from nested directory structure

Currently the desktop backgrounds on Cinnamon only uses images at the toplevel.
Tools like Shotwell typically organize images, e.g. travel photos, in a nested directory tree structure.
Cinnamon should have an option to look into subfolders for the desktop backgrounds.
