A Desktop Search utility to search for files and folders as just as in MS Windows..
There is no desktop search tool associated with Mint. Search monkey can be installed
after distro, but it is necessary for a modern operating system to have a Search facility.
i think there should be a bundled desktop search utility to ease the use of the operating system.

Whiteboard
perhaps change the title of this proposal to something more simple e.g. "Desktop search tool". The default search tool installed in Mint is gnome-search-tool, which is easy to use, but it's not easily accessible from the Menu, perhaps make it more obvious. I don't think we need an indexing search tool such as tracker or beagle as this adds overhead and will be rendered obsolete with zeitgeist in Gnome 3.0 - in Mint 9 -- emorrp1
But until zeitgeist is released which for all we know could be delayed another 6 months there should be a real search tool. The current system/systems is inconsistent and very confusing to use. --Rovanion
