A notification about a new major release for any programm and then a one click installation to upgrade (for example an upgrade from firefox 3.0 to 3.5)
I know that this feature is against the Ubuntu philosophie, but I dislike the function, that you can´t upgrade any programm to a major release, for example from firefox 3.0 to firefox 3.5 or from Open Office 3.0 to 3.1. (It works only circuitous with a ppa)
Because of this I would like you to ask, to integrate the feature, that you receive a notification about a programm upgrade. Like "there is a new version of this programm available. Click here to upgrade." And then install this with a singel click.
Because I think that many users would prefer this feature, if they get always the new version of a programm because they have always new functions.
And if a user don´t want to upgrade he can click "no" and use the old version of the programm.

This can break things, so it might be best to have this option available in synaptic so that users who don't know the difference won't upgrade
