Linaro Ubuntu boot speed optimization

Registered by Ricardo Salveti on 2011-05-30

Continuous evaluation of the boot speed performance for the images supported by the Linaro Developer Platform Group. Optimization work is expected where feasible.

Image types:
 * Ubuntu LEB
 * Nano
 * Developer
 * ALIP

Whiteboard

User Stories:
1. As a user I want to know what is the expected booting time for the Linaro images.

2. As a distro developer I want to know in a daily or weekly basis the boot report, to see if there's any regression and be able to identify possible areas of improvements over the cycles.

3. As a Linaro user I want to have the same boot performance improvements done for the official Ubuntu ARM images during Oneiric cycle.

Engineering Blueprints:
1 - Integrate the boot profiling tool at LAVA, making it report daily results with supported images
2 - Identify bottlenecks and improve the boot performance when possible
