Ubuntu LEB: How to support dbg packages like ubuntu does with ddebs

Registered by Ricardo Salveti on 2011-10-26

Currently Linaro uses a PPA for the package Overlay, and unless the source package requires a -dbg package, no dbg symbol package is provided for it.

Discuss about possible ways to make dbg packages available for the Ubuntu LEB own packages/changes, covering the currently solution for Ubuntu and if it can be also applied for our ppa/derived distro.

Whiteboard

FWIW, ddebs for PPAs will probably happen soon, but for derived distros the picture is a bit less clear:

<wgrant> Primary archives are another matter.
<wgrant> They have an implementation constraint that I consider to be false.
<wgrant> A very onerous implementation constraint.
<wgrant> It is said that ddebs must live in a separate archive.
<wgrant> mwhudson: So, PPA ddebs are probably a couple of months away.
<wgrant> mwhudson: Primary archive ddebs are an undefined period of time and convincement of IS and Julian away.
