A voting system for Launchpad. Popularity Contest for Bugs and Blueprints

Registered by Toma

Having a Voting system would allow for developers to see what Ubuntu users want out of Ubuntu. It would also allow for features to get implemented quicker.
Im referring to this specification:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/what-do-non-geeks-want

Its also linked to this specification:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/malone/+spec/bug-voting
But goes a little furture with the WishList and the Blueprints

And also, you can see a working example at
http:/bugs.kde.org

Whiteboard

2007-10-18: pax: Should be merged with https://blueprints.launchpad.net/blueprint/+spec/vote-for-spec. There I wrote, "This is a perfect example of why we need such a system. I think it's a great idea, but the only way anyone can tell that more than one person likes it is by someone writing something on the white board like this. It would be nice to have a quantifiable way for developers to determine how much support there is for an idea. Also, I would say polling rather than voting since voting implies group decision-making while polling implies a survey of opinion. What about having the ability to add a blueprint to a 'favorites' list? In a users personal blueprint page (mine: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/~pax) there could be a subsection listing the user's favorite blueprints. This way a user can easily check on the status of their favorite blueprints and other users can see one users favorite blueprints. For example; I like the blueprint you proposed and would like to see your favorite blueprints. This can also be linked to a user's karma points; the more karma points a user has, the more weight their favorite carries. There can be an 'add to favorites' check box on the page presented after clicking the 'Subscribe yourself' link."
