Optional Git Revision Control

Registered by Garoth

How about support for other kinds of revision control? Git, for example is a very powerful example of such software, and my personal preference. It is very much like bzr. Also, most of the needed code has already been made in this project: http://repo.or.cz/ (they host themselves there). I think it would be very nice for options to be available for developers, so that they could use what they like most.

Whiteboard

MacSlow agrees with me.

"Furthermore it would be nice if launchpad would not be so bzr-centric, but would also allow git to be directly supported."

Just to provide some support: I would personally also be very interested in seeing git support being added to launchpad.
Maybe this needs a poll?

This definitely needs to happen and should not be that difficult. -ericvh 01/13/08

100% agreed. I was trying to propose to my co-maintainers(non-ubuntu users) to use launchpad to host our project. Lack of project wiki, and no git/svn support were their biggest reservations --cowboyd 8/4/2008

Like Trac, Launchpad really needs generalised VCS backend support before we can consider using it. -Pete Woods 22/02/2010
