When you look a schematic, the shape of each pin indicates the nature of same. Inputs, outputs, bidireccional lines are show with arrows. Open collectors, pull-up or pull-down resistors, no logic connections and other ones have his own pin shapes too.

It can be interesting expand the schematic library editor with this option.
