Make recommendation for a voltage divider upon E-series with a specified tolerance

Registered by Mathias Schnarrenberger

This is an idea for the pcb calculator program, possibly an extension for the regulator-sheet.

Assume: You want to calculate a voltage divider for the output voltage of 6.2V and a reference voltage of 5V. The actual pcb calculator version returns for R1=1kOhm and for R2=240 Ohm. Since the value of R2 isn't available in the E12 series it could recommend 220 Ohm or 270 Ohm depending on a user-given tolerance (possibly two values for +x% and -y%) and a specified E-series (e.g. 6,12,24,48,96). pcb-calculator could also fill a table with all possible values (considerung the specified tolerance and R1 and R2 not bounded to any values) using the E-series and an additional filter to reduce the solution to values that are already used in the circuit (to minimize variety of different resistor values).

The table could include following columns: R1, R2, resultant tolerance, resultant output voltage (with Vref at R2). Each row would then show a possible combination of R1 and R2 within the specified tolerance.

Thanks and regards,
