frontview-backview extended
Hello,
the blueprint frontview-backview suggest 'working' on one side or the other of the board,
with selecting only objects that side.
Good but not enough.
At the beginning of the board, we move/place footprints as a whole. We don't care moving the Ref or the value of the component (but want to see them) at this stage. Must not to be annoying clickable. Likewise for individual pads of the footprint.
At final stage, here we are : arranging Ref and other marking. Those must be moveable, but not the footprint/
(you often see I density components area silkscreened somewhere with space). It is just idiot to select one by one Refs from that area to move them manually and do approx replication, hein.....
So, two faces to work on, two level of placing objects.
While we are at moving objects, an attribute 'FIXED' must be added so that mouse selection does nothing. For example, holes, connectors, power things,.... . Moved to exact place on the board and no more moveable. Of course shift or control clic override this. Something exists but have not use because it says "Selection contains locked items. Do you want to continue?"
which is stupid because locked items are moved......
Also while designing frontview backview of the board, think to split the screen to display both sides.
