Automatic Trace Impedance

Registered by Craig Burden

A trace can be routed and then specified to require a impedance and/or phase angle (perhaps within a tolerance). The geometry of the trace can then be adjusted within limits automatically during zone repour. The trace width and clearance would likely be the only two parameters that are practical, although later this could include removal/addition of ground planes below or conversion to stripline etc.

This would be really useful when routing for antennas that require ground clearance. The trace is required to exit the ground plane, where it's width should increase in order to maintain it's impedance.
