When KDE4 arrives, it should be possible to make KatchTV run on all supported platforms. In fact, with Qt4.4's built-in phonon and webkit support, it might be possible to lose a lot of KDE dependencies and work on any platform supported by Qt. I don't see any reason to avoid KDE though, if it provides useful features, so I'll assume sticking with KDE4 for now.
