Whiteboard

Update: a 1.7 installer is available at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~supertanker/kabikaboo/win32/files and just needs testing. Seems to work perfectly here. No GtkSpell, sorry. Manual included. After it has been tested, could someone please add the installer as an official 1.7 download? Dialup isn't friendly for web uploads.

Dave: This is excellent! It worked for me with no hitches on a Windows XP test machine. Save/load worked, everything that I tried worked. Great work.

Update update: Beta installer available at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~supertanker/kabikaboo/win32/files (download kabikaboo-1.6-installer.exe). Could someone with gpg installed please check the signature against the file with my public key to verify that I signed it and uploaded it correctly? This installer should be stable enough for casual users to test and use.

Dave: That is great news Cody, I'm really excited, I have friends with Windows who want to run this. Thanks for your help. I assigned this to you if you dont mind.

Update: I packaged a mostly-working installer earlier today for 1.6. Tested under 32-bit Windows XP and 64-bit Windows Vista with success. Py2exe refuses to apply program icon, only bug so far.

With installer, only dependency is MSVC++, which is a free download and much nicer than GTK+PyGTK+GtKSourceView2+the kitchen sink. Will do more testing after Christmas. Have a good holiday everyone. ~Cody

UPDATE: The 1.6 version should now run on Windows! Fix to use of gtksourceview2

"I have had your software recommended to me for my writing and various
scheming and planning things, but I do not have a linux system. I am
running windows XP on my laptop and use OpenOffice and Final Draft. What
version of kabikaboo do I download?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vanessa"

Argh.
Have tried to get Kabikaboo on Windows to run but am stuck getting GtkSourceView to work.
Have tried both Python 2.6 and 2.5 (pygtksourceview wants 2.5).

Python
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/

GTK
http://www.gtk.org/download-windows.html#StableRelease
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries/win32/gtk+/2.16/

PyGTK
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries/win32/pygtk/2.12/
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries/win32/pygobject/2.14/
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries/win32/pycairo/1.4/

GTK Source View:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtksourceview/

PyGTK Source View (requires Python 2.5)
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries/win32/pygtksourceview/2.2/pygtksourceview-2.2.0.win32-py2.5.exe

Getting PyGTK to run on Windows:

A similar installation:

Py2exe:

Please note that LibXML, libgnomeprint, and iconv are also required for gtksourceview2 to work.
