We need a toolbar for the text editor.
It could be at the top or bottom of the text editor pane.
This would have font buttons, bold/italic, cut/paste, undo/redo.
Like in gEdit.

Basically this would be a Pango tag editor.
Hopefully there will not be any backwards compatibility once this info is added to documents.

Does anyone know of an existing Python implementation of this?

Help needed.
Similar PyGTK "rich" textviews: Keepnote, Rednotebook.
Have looked at the code for KeepNote, and talked to the author.
Keepnote's rich text view widiget is probably the solution here.
Rednotebook has implemented it already, but view only, not editable.

This should probably be a 1.8 or even a 2.0 feature!
