I think it would be best to make an app image for slingshot-launcher-mod. It would eleimnate the need for a .desktop file and would remove the slingshot-launcher.desktop icon when it is run

we will try to push this as an update to slingshot-launcher-mod and thus allow version 5 users to benefit right away, the .desktop icon is where the appimg will be located to fix a bug with the slingshot-launcher-mod (aka launcher). it iwll be built on a ubuntu 10.04 station so it will work on almost all version of ubuntu and any appimg enabled linux distro.

*update: so making an appimg from launcher-mod hasn't worked yet so I'm going to see if I can get the latest slingshot-launcher. Once I downloaded the latest version then mod some stuff and then see if an appimage can be made.
