Support for exporting to XAML Drawings instead of Canvas

Registered by Jeff Pierson

I propose a feature for Inkscape to be able to export to XAML in the form of DrawingImages or DrawingBrushes instead of or in addition to the current Canvas/Shape based XAML export. Inkscape is a great free tool for vector drawing and despite it's weaknesses when it comes to supporting XAML based vector drawings, many developers/designers do brave their way through the many hoops to export their .svg and other assets created in Inkscape for use in their WPF or Silverlight based applications. Implementing this feature would make Inkscape a much more attractive solution for XAML designers as it would allow exporting directly to the XAML format that is directly consumed by Blend and Visual Studio for use within WPF and Silverlight applications. For a reference implementation please see the equivalent export feature available in Microsoft's Expression Design product. Note, Expression Design does not currently support XAML file imports and Expression Blend does not contain any type of sophisticated drawing tools so implementing XAML Drawing imports in Inkscape would give a leg up on any other product out there for dealing XAML based vector drawings.
