UI - New UI to Inkscape look as charming as Blender and Gimp (gimp on linux)

Registered by Victor Westmann

I think that Inkscape can have a new UI for it to become even more attractive and more pretty to the eyes.

A darker theme just like Gimp [http://www.gimp.org/screenshots/linux_mixer.jpg] with darker panels, buttons, menus and a darker icon theme in general, just like blender [http://www.blender.org/features-gallery/features/ (try the first image in the upper left position. In the 'interface' section)].

Inkscape already is a kickass program! If we could make it more charming we will give that extra thing that could be missing.

Whiteboard

This is generally solved by just switching the GTK+ theme to a darker theme. Inkscape uses GTK+ and in general will follow the settings of the theme itself to get sizes, colors, etc.
17-JUN-08: Agreed to the above. Here is how you can achieve that: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=552074 --Pablo Trabajos

2016-10-01: VictorWestmann - Yes. That'll work on Linux but what about on Windows platform? Isn't there a button from inside the inskcape program that can change to dark ui? Just like it shows on Windows on this youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZePJfIO_vsI&t=3m0s Thanks!

2018-07-07 VictorWestmann - with the migration from GTK 2 to GTK 3 it should be easier to create the theming feature in the application. High hopes for 1.0 release!
