inkscape symbols appear as a white block

Registered by Victor Westmann

Hi there.

I love inkscape and use it since version 0.32. I tried the symbols feature in Windows and it works fine.

Now, however, using Inkscape 0.91 r13725.

Using:

Mac OSX El Capitan
Version: 10.11.6 (15G1004).
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

When I get a symbol from Inkscape 0.91 (on a Mac) that runs through XQuartz 2.7.11, I can't get the symbol from the symbols panel! It only appears a white block. With no stroke.

Do you guys know how can this be fixed? Thank you!

[2016-12-30 su_v] why is this filed as a blueprint? Blueprints are neither a help section nor a bug tracker: they are a tool to track the progress of features and ideas, and to coordinate team efforts.

The question about usage filed as blueprint is a known conflict with the default Pasteboard settings of XQuartz. For more information, please read this FAQ:
  https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#copypaste-rasterizes-objects
and the explanation given e.g. in comment 2 of this earlier bug report:
* Bug #1440448 “Symbols are invisible on Mac OS X Yosemite”

and then please close or delete the blueprint.
