Path editing functions need keyboard shortcuts

Registered by Steve Baker

The dozen or so path editing functions (Join selected nodes, Break path at node, Join endpoints, Delete segment and all of the node/line modification buttons) have no keyboard shortcuts and do not appear in the menu so you can't add shortcuts in "Preferences". Many common editing tasks require these functions to be used rapidly/repeatedly - and the long mouse movement between selecting a point/line and using the function then going back to the select the next point/line can REALLY slow down editing. If these were added to the "Path" menu (maybe as a submenu so they don't overly clutter the Path menu) - then shortcuts could be bound to them.

Whiteboard

2018-07-12 VictorWestmann - So what you are suggesting is that the developers change the icons into menu options and group them under one single menu option (named "Node options" (?)) just so it's easier to use and reuse them intensively? Is that it? Or would you like to assign keyboard shortcuts to these options? Could you please elaborate a little bit more on this?

Sound like a really interesting suggestion.

2018-07-12 Steve Baker - All I REALLY want is keyboard shortcuts for those node functions...when you're editing a complicated shape, they are high-bandwidth buttons. It seems to me that most inkscape icon-buttons merely duplicate menu functions. If you do that, I can bind keyboard shortcuts to them - which would solve my problem. If for some reason that's undesirable or difficult - then adding shortcuts directly for those buttons would be acceptable. But I think adding the menu items is a more "inkscapey way" to approach it.
