Image to gradient

Useful gradients could be generated quickly from images if it was possible to draw a path on top of an image (typically a straight line between two nodes) and then sample the colours in the image under the path to define a multi-step gradient.

It occurs to me, minutes after writing the blueprint, that the combination of the gradient editor and the dropper tool really makes this feature unnecessary. It might be useful if a particular project required pulling a lot of gradients from images, as I suspect some catalog layouts do, but generally the gradient-editor + dropper combination works well for this.
5/AUG/08 Pajarico: I actually find this feature interesting. Maybe as a submode of the gradient tool?
