yes, there appear to be some problems here, beyond just the file reference issue. On Inkscape deveI, I got around the file reference problem by manually editing the .svg file to contain the relative link:

xlink:href="spiro_smooth.PNG"

this svg file opened properly and it created a .zip file with no errors. However, I cannot open the zip file : Winzip says "not a valid archive".
