Add Block storage management to the Horizon portal
Currently, there is no way for administrators to configure the cinder block storage drivers from horizon. There is precedence for the management for compute resources and network management.
Administrators need to toggle between cli commands, understand how each backend driver works, and restart services, etc. This is cumbersome and not very helpful for enterprise customers and users.
As a cloud admin, I want the ability to add storage systems, storage resources, and configure QoS data for each backend. Today, there are many storage providers; each provider has its own capabilities and approaches. The idea is to provide an avenue and a format to configure the various storage driver backends using horizon. The proposed features:
1. Driver backend
a. Add
b. Modify
c. Remove
2. Volume Types
a. Expose driver backend to add/modify
b. Add extra-specs feature based on each backend

Whiteboard
[2014-11-17 | david-lyle] is this something we can accomplish with adding driver specific code into Horizon?
Yehia Beyh: David, yes it can be, however, it needs to be accomplished by adding an extension to the drivers to configure the storage driver backends. The storage backend metadata need to be linked to the volume types extra-specs selection as a natural deployment. Currently, the volume types extra-specs editing in horizon is raw and error-prone. "
[david-lyle | 2015 Sept 9] This never really materialized. If there is still interest, it should be reopened with more implementation plans.
