News feed on login page

At many deployments it would be helpful if the cloud service provider could update its users with the latest information about new features, updates on the terms of service, etc.
Our idea is to have a box either on the top or bottom of the page that shows the last article title, and clicking/hovering on it, the whole news feed rolls up showing the last several (configurable) news items.

The source of the news feed can be configured, RSS is preferred, because it's very likely that the service provider already has one.
