Fitting arbitrary numbers of particles by sequential fitting with subtraction

On approach for working with images that have a large and not easily known number of particles would be to fit a set of particles that are easy to identify (either by hand or with some automated process) and then subtract the fitted hologram off from the target. With any luck, this will make some more particles easier to pick out, and the process can be repeated until all particles are found.
