I like gufw, good work...My suggestion is..why not have a own repo for it? tuxfamily is a nice open source hoster and can give public keys for making a nice debian's repo.
Just my idea and my $0.02 :)

Because we're already in Ubuntu's repository - and if a vital update is needed, we can get an SRU.
We don't aren't that kind of an app to do regular updates either really :)
