Using the Goobi.ContentServer is mandatory for providing some planned functionality of the frontend plugins of Goobi.Presentation. For example allowing the user to choose the size and included pages of the downloadable PDF file requires the possibility to generate these files dynamically. On the other hand not everyone wants to use the Goobi.ContentServer because of its missing features (i.e. the possibility to use more than one footer or change the dpi of an image). Therefore it should be possible to decide not to use the Goobi.ContentServer with Goobi.Presentation (at the cost of not having the dynamic features of the mentioned plugins - but still the static ones).
