Evaluate if VuFind could be used as retrieval frontend

Registered by Sebastian Meyer

Whiteboard

VuFind can not be used because it depends on its own Solr schema which is different from the one Goobi.Presentation uses. But there is an alternative which should be considered: Solarium (http://www.solarium-project.org/) is an opensource Solr client library for PHP applications. It could even completely replace the SolrPhpClient library which is currently used for the Solr handling in the backend. Solarium is more actively developed than SolrPhpClient and provides more features.
Another alternative is the native PECL extension for Solr, but there are no Debian packages yet.
