Some features
Shoud contain information about user and distro (not implented in code yet)
Menu list should use custom theme color background (New feature for GnoMenu 1.7)
Tango complient icon theme
Button should not contain words , because they of missing translations , perhaps only "Menu"
Button should not be distro specific
Here is a possible base design idea. Action buttons should be gathered from user's current Icon theme, not just Tango. This will also eliminate the vista-ish look entirely.
Words are drawn underneath buttons by python script. This way they can be properly translated. One pane is the actual menu the second pane holds user's frequently used or favorite items.
Here is the link to the png file to get an idea what I mean http://
As far as a non distro-specific button, we should stick with that very shiny yellow Gnome Footprint. I think it defines the project fairly well.
I put together this mock up http://
No Vista Like Buttons
No words, use of universal Icons instead
The Icons from top to bottom are:
Internet
Email
----------
Home
Documents
Pictures
Music
Video
----------
Synaptic
Control Center
Help
----------
Lock
Shutdown
Logout
The idea is to return to convenient menu actions without using the Vista graphics. While adding more accessed options and removing lesser used options.
This is only a layout and design concept. Other layouts are possible.
This layout can also be made in GnoMenu 1 series making it semi-backwards compatible.
Using the Black White Theme at http://
This new layout is a modified version of the Kore Theme using the guidelines I set a with my proposed Gnome2 Mock Up as followed by ZwS (anton-sudak) the creator of the Black White theme, which revolutionized the GnoMenu look.
The Kore2 Theme is designed to be a professional looking menu which incorporates ZwS' layout and organizes it a bit better. All navigation selections are on the left side, while function and program selections on the right.
Button actions are placed along the bottom, with the aux button replaced by the logout button. The aux action button is currently deprecated in the trunk series and will be deprecated in GnoMenu 1.7 As GnoMenu is now fully Main Gnome Menu Compliant the aux actions are no longer needed. The access to Help is now a button action as well.
